New Zealand

Clean, green, and selective

New Zealand offers what money can't easily buy: pristine nature, genuine safety, and English-speaking culture. The catch is getting in. Immigration is competitive, housing is expensive, and the points-based system favors in-demand skills. For those who qualify, it's one of the world's best places to build a life.

Immigration Overview

New Zealand is the developed world's escape hatch. Remote enough to be insulated from global chaos, clean enough to breathe the air without worry, and civilized enough that everything works. It's what California was supposed to be: progressive politics, outdoor culture, tech industry presence, but without the sprawl, traffic, or social friction.

Immigration is the gatekeeping mechanism. New Zealand isn't handing out visas. The Skilled Migrant Category is points-based and competitive. The Active Investor Plus visa requires NZD 15M minimum. Even the Accredited Employer Work Visa requires a job offer in a skill-shortage area. You don't get in without something to offer.

Housing costs are genuinely painful. Auckland property prices rival Sydney. Wellington and other cities are somewhat better but still expensive by global standards. The "affordable paradise" era ended around 2010. Today's New Zealand requires real financial resources.

The SMC system is transparent but competitive. 180 points is the current threshold, and most successful applicants have job offers that add significant points. We help you calculate your score and identify pathways to improve it.
