Note that Portuguese proficiency, while not required for the visa, will dramatically improve your experience and is required for eventual citizenship.
Language note: Brazil is the only Portuguese-speaking country in the Americas. Spanish helps somewhat but Portuguese is really its own language. Invest in learning it.
